Today, 1st March, we celebrate St.David's Day here in Wales. It is is day where the children all get dressed in traditional Welsh costume or Welsh rugby kit and we wear a daffodil or leek pin to mark the day. We have many traditional dances which are also perfomed across our villages and towns.
Who is St David and why do we celebrate on 1st March?
St David is the patron saint of Wales and he died on 1st March 589AD.
Born in Pembrokeshire, St David became a renowned preacher and made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. He returned home with a stone that sits on the altar at St. David's Cathedral where he is also buried. According to folklore, it is said that the ground once rose up where he stood so that people could see and hear him speak. His last words to his followers were 'Be joyful, keep the faith, and do the little things that you have heard and seen me do', the phrase 'do the little things in life' is still used in Wales today.

There are plenty of things to do whilst in Wales. The country is best known for it's mountains, hills and rugged coastline.
